BOOK ART BLOG
The construction and form of the bookwork set it apart from ordinary mass market books. It is a craft object where content and form come together to create an artwork that can be admired for its physical beauty and engaged with by opening it up. Books can take our minds away from the present moment into the realm of imagination, memory and aspiration. Likewise the bookwork is a vehicle for thought and expression. This blog looks at the book as art and all things related to books.

Artist's book launch 16 January 2015
Artist book edition of 150 about the myth that Sigmund Freud added some words to his signature in order to get an exit visa in 1938:
'Ich kann die Gestapo jedermann auf das beste empfehlen'
It is all a myth but one that continues to this day especially as it is citied in some publications about Freud.
The book is a pamphlet design codex with a cover like a hanging wallet in a filing cabinet.
On each left hand side page there is text and on the right hand side there is a image Freud's relocated personal artifects in London....these are partly covered by images of the unoccupied spaces of Freud's home in Vienna stapled on top creating an interesting juxtaposition.
