Creative practitioners came together to question the ideology of the studio and gallery space through a series of workshops, discussions, talks critiques culminating in an exhibition of the collaborative work produced.
language - Edgar-Walker workshop
a collaborative workshop of making and not knowing using found materials .... not forcing the material.... is it important to have a clear idea of what to make before beginning?
objects take on a new significance when placed on a plinth in a white cube gallery space .... Are we making in accordance with the perceived expectations of our public/tutor? Are we caught up with well-designed objects?
...in working with found materials I am still bringing my learning and research to the task even though I am acting in the moment ..... looking at objects differently ....and taking time to look
these were put on the wall and look more like 'art' and stayed on the wall by
the window for the rest of the schedule of events

Frazer Muggeridge and the world record attempt - enlarging a letter from a type book so that it is so massive it covers the whole floor!
Visual Tactility and Publishing
Editors of art culture magazines discussed the role of printing today comparing it with on-line material. Printed art magazines are well designed and printed so they they can be kept by the reader. The internet may be immediate but we still like objects. Technology is trying to represent the book but its easier to read ink on paper than a web page ....websites are like a collage of information jumping out from the screen ....print works at the pace of the reader. Print is not dead. It just has to adapt. That which was daily will go on line and printed copy will appear once a week in the form of more considered lengthy articles.

These events raised lots of questions for me and will enable me to continue look at things differently and question the role of art and how we make art ......
This is the Art Salon
objects made in the earlier workshop were on the window ledge
Five artists were invited to present their work to the assembled group. It was constructive to be privy to others ideas and some detailed discussions ensued.
I was able to learn from others comments and come to a greater understanding.
