Legendary jobs and Legendary Stories

The system is all pervasive its so hard to imagine anything else. We labour to produce capital for companies and receive a wage. Everything has its price in the capitalist, materialist economy.

This reading room gives visitors an opportunity to think about work; especially zero hour contracts, unpaid internships, volunteering and placements within the arts.

Does capitalism work? Is it fair? Is there a viable alternative? Everything has its price while true value is forgotten.

In the pursuit of profit jobs are cut and wages are frozen. And the rich get richer. Services in the community are cut and those without jobs are dubbed 'benefit dcroungers'. Its easy to blame them when its the system that is at fault. Frustration and anger boils over into protest and riot. Its about more than trainers........Where is the economic activity that builds a bright future?  Phrases like 'cultural capital' get banndied about amidst cuts in funding to the arts sector.
Artists who are keen to gain valuable experience work for nothing as interns. May be, just may be it will lead to a job.......
