It was really good last week to go to the Royal Institute to hear Sterling Ruby talk about his work and then see the work at the private view at Hauser & Wirth in Savile Row. The collages really caught my attention by their sheer scale and use of fabric materials sterlingrubystudio.com/nggallery/page-4/image/2151

The construction and form of the bookwork set it apart from ordinary mass market books. It is a craft object where content and form come together to create an artwork that can be admired for its physical beauty and engaged with by opening it up. Books can take our minds away from the present moment into the realm of imagination, memory and aspiration. Likewise the bookwork is a vehicle for thought and expression. This blog looks at the book as art and all things related to books.

Ding Dong
Oh very merry
and all the best
to one and all
Seasonal cheer and bright lights
twinkling in the dark days
of sovereign debt
and bleak expectations
Come rest ye merry
with festive feasting
forget the fiscal folly
And an austere new year
